Personal Inbox & Dot
How can an assistant track unresolved commitments across conversations?
Personal Inbox is the implemented read-only communications layer. Dot is the broader design for retrieving relationship and project context, identifying open commitments, and preparing replies for review.
- Source connectors
- Message store
- Search & review
- Context retrieval
- Draft approval
What exists
The inbox stores searchable conversation snapshots and review states such as Needs reply, Waiting and Done. Outlook, Gmail, GroupMe and Instagram ingestion paths have different connection requirements. Snapshot imports are labeled, and source freshness must be checked before claiming current coverage.
What makes it difficult
Incoming and outgoing history must reconcile across channels without duplicating messages or losing review state. An unanswered message may already be resolved elsewhere; a successful sync does not by itself identify the remaining obligation. The implementation separates ingestion, stored messages and review choices.
The larger Dot service
The intended next layer retrieves people, projects and prior commitments before proposing an editable response. Sending requires approval of the exact content and destination. The broader contextual drafting and delivery workflow remains a design direction; the implemented inbox does not send messages.
